Lumière 2010 - Sept 4, 5-10 pm

Summer may be winding down but as the evenings lengthen there is still one festival to mark on the calendar. Not to be forgotten is the Lumière Festival produced by the Crichton Cultural Community Centre.

The Evening of Light Celebration takes place September 4 from 5-10 pm in New Edinburgh’s Stanley Park. Founded in 2004, Lumière Festival has developed into a three-part event with lantern making, and performance workshops held at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre from mid August. Workshops are ongoing, and spaces are still available in many of the workshops. This is an ideal end of summer activity!

B.R.I.C.K. Awards

Congratulations to B.R.I.C.K. Award Winners!

One of the highlights of NECA’s AGM in June was the inaugural ceremony for the B.R.I.C.K. awards, also known as the Burgh Renovation, Improvement, and Construction Kudos awards.  The BRICK is our very own way of acknowledging projects that are sympathetic to the community and add to the appearance and character of the neighbourhood.

NECA Annual General Meeting

Record participation marked NECA's 2010 Annual General Meeting, held on Tueday, June 8.  The Stanley Park Fieldhouse was filled to near capacity with local residents asking questions of ward Councillor Jacques Legendre and committee heads and providing important feedback to the NECA Board of Directors. 

 Special B.R.I.C.K. award to David Sacks

Heritage and Development Committee Co-chair, Paul McConnell, presented NECA President David Sacks with a special B.R.I.C.K. award in recognition for his service to the community.  David is stepping down as President but will remain on the board to complete his two-year term.

New Ed Cheering Station Wins Again!

New Edinburgh Cheering Station Wins Again!

Kathy Godding, Caroline Matt, Caityln and Melodie Slater, Liz Kane, Joseph Cull and Cathy McConkey.

New Edinburgh was chosen Best Cheering Station for Ottawa's Race Weekend. This marks the Fourth year in a row to win this convetted prize. Thanks to all who came down to the Offical Cheering Station at MacKay and Charles Street. A very special THANK YOU to Bridgehead Coffee on Beechwood who supplied the much needed Brew for the morning revellers! The winning proceeds will go to enhancing the interior of the Fieldhouse.
